The Alum Creek Singers is a semi-professional acoustical quartet that has been playing in and around the Columbus, Ohio area for over ten years.
Banjo, mandolin, guitar and upright bass make up the instrumentation, but it is their emphasis on beautiful four-part harmonies that elevate them to something worthy of your attention.
Stylistically, the group leans toward bluegrass, country, folk and gospel, but it’s not unusual to hear acoustical arrangements of popular or even rock tunes. No matter the song, once their interpretation has been applied, it becomes a musical treat.
The Alum Creek Singers is a group defined as easily by what it’s not as by what it is.
It’s not the dime-a-dozen bar band that plays Friday nights down at the corner. It’s not a dance band, a barbershop quartet, nor a weekend garage band. It’s not a group meant to play in the background while the event goes on around them. Indeed, they are the event.
The AlumCreekSingers has performed for countless events during their nine-plus years, including weddings, grand openings, coffee houses, private events, retirement parties, family reunions, museums, retirement communities, local theater, etc.
Their performances are always extremely well received. In particular, A cappella arrangements of classics like Shenandoah and Beautiful Life never fail to hush a noisy room.
