Meet The Alum Creek Singers

Jeff Chesser (banjo & tenor vocals) is originally from Cambridge, Ohio and is currently employed as chair of the Performance Arts Department at Dublin Scioto High School. He has always shared a love of bluegrass music with his parents, who are West Virginia natives. Jeff’s expertise as a music educator is the key contributor to working out the arrangements performed by The Alum Creek Singers.

Seth Lockard (guitar & bass vocals) joined the ACS in 2002. When the group was faced with needing a replacement guitar player. Jeff recalled one of his exceptional music students that had graduated just a few years earlier. He contacted Seth and the rest, as they say, is history. Seth’s bass/baritone voice and natural guitar abilities have been an exciting addition to the group. He currently works as a restaurant server and has just completed real estate school.

Kris Chesser (upright bass & lead vocals) is originally from Ottawa, Ohio and played the upright bass in the Ottawa-Glandorf High School Folk Group. She and Jeff met while attending Ohio Northern University. She, like Jeff, is employed by Dublin City Schools as a music educator and provides a strong lead vocal foundation for The Alum Creek Singer’s unique sound.

Matt Strauss (mandolin and harmony vocals) is a sales representative of medical imaging equipment for a Cleveland-based company. He and Jeff have known each other since playing trumpet together in the Cambridge High School band. He left Ohio for many years while serving in the U.S. Air Force, but eventually returned to find the common bond of good music still prevalent in the lives of old friends.

Take a minute and hear how good they are!
